Cascadia Capital, a top middle-market investment bank that provides advisory services for entrepreneurs and family-owned companies, is well known. This firm offers a range of advisory services, including financing, mergers and acquisitions, fairness opinions, special situational advice, and financings. Cascadia Private Capital, Cascadia Capital's merchant bank arm is part of the largest investment bank in the Pacific Northwest. Direct investments are made in companies that seek alternatives to institutional capital. We do this by investing in families and similar-minded capital pools. Our equity investments range from $5 to $50 millions in cash-flowing companies that generate $3 to $25 Million of EBITDA. Private Capital can be used in situations where owners do not desire a full exit or are not ready to work with traditional private equity partners. Instead of forcing owners to follow traditional fund guidelines, we listen and take the time to get to know their needs, concerns and goals before designing a customized solution that will help them achieve their objectives. Our investors are those who share the same values and interests as owners. They can also contribute capital. Investors who have owned and built great businesses have an unmatched appreciation of a wider range of factors (e.g. Value, Taxes, Family, Estate Planning, Employees, Legacy, Community, Governance, Reputation, Brand, Philanthropy, Diversification, etc.). Private Capital is committed to the Company for the long-term and aligns itself with investors and the Company by rolling a portion its fees into the deal. It also serves on the Company's board to implement its strategy. Cascadia Capital's industry knowledge, relationships network, and market intelligence are all available to us as true value-add partners.

Built by founders and funded by them, this network is designed to place founders first. We have built the strongest network in the area to support founders, from funding to scaling, since 2008. They were previously the Oregon Territory. The region was settled by pioneers who were influenced by the Klondike Gold Rush, and made self-reliant through remote necessity. It continues to draw leaders and builders who don't mind doing things differently. The unique ecosystem of innovation that flourishes in the region is a proud support. We have a mission: to empower and enable entrepreneurs with entrepreneur mentality. From its conception in 2010, Techstars Seattle was led by Founders'Co-op. In 2019, Techstars launched the Alexa Accelerator powered by Amazon. Techstars took over the leadership of the Alexa Accelerator in 2017. We invested in 130 additional companies through these programs, which made us early backers in 250 businesses in the Pacific Northwest. We created Startup Hall in 2013 with University of Washington as a partnership to promote organic exchange between academic and business innovation.

When you find something that interests you, you should act disciplinefully when making investment decisions. Buffett/Munger uses a baseball analogy to explain his philosophy. I am no baseball expert, but Buffett/Munger is a good example of this. Ted Williams was the only player to have a single-season record of.400 in baseball over the past seventy years. He explained the science of hitting in Science of Hitting. The strike zone was divided into seventy-seven areas, with each cell representing the size of an average baseball. He was determined to only swing at the balls within his "best" cells. Even if it meant he might strike out, aiming for the worst spots could seriously diminish his chance of success. You can be a securities investor and see all kinds of business proposals in the form security prices. You don't need to do much other than enjoy the experience. Sometimes, however, there will be a slow pitch that's straight and in the middle. You can then swing hard. You will see a significant increase in your average hitting speed, regardless of what level you begin with. Investors have a tendency to swing too frequently. This is a common issue. Both individuals as well professional investors are affected by institutional imperatives. One version drove me to exit the traditional long/short hedge funds operation. The opposite is also harmful for long-term outcomes: If you discover a "fat pitch", but can't swing with your full capital, it's a problem.
