Plot: Founding of Millcreek Nursery Ltd Ken Riske founded Millcreek Nursery in 1985 on the family estate in Edmonton's southeast quadrant. The Riskes acquired the land in 1902 and expanded grain and dairy farming for decades. The dairy farm left a classic RED BARN, more than a century old, that the nursery is now famous for. Additionally, several outbuildings have adjusted well to nursery purposes. The adjacent fields' first-rate soil gives an excellent environment for our homegrown trees, most of which reach the nursery as seeds or seedlings. Soil, windbreaks, and buildings characterize the nursery as "on the farm," even though it now lies just inside city boundaries.

These reviews are overwhelmingly positive, often emphasizing various positive aspects of the customer experience. There is a general sense of satisfaction with the customer service, as employees are perceived as friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The availability and variety of the selection are another strong point, with both trees and shrubs proving popular. It is common to see guest comments about the quality of the plants, praising them for their health and robustness as well as for the reasonable prices. The ubiquitous praise for the large selection that allows customers to mix and match annuals, perennials, and shrubs is difficult to overstate. The relaxed atmosphere that appeals to families where even children can come and touch plants is an excellent way to promote business. Some reviewers feel that some items, particularly Hydrangea and rose plants, are too expensive and wish the nursery will frequently review its prices to stay competitive. In general, overall satisfaction is extremely high, given the quality of the plants and the knowledgeable staff, with many guests saying that they will return.
