Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg is the hometown of our founding members. Our logo features a bear. The Algonquin people think that bears demonstrate courage and bravery. That idea guides our mission. We see it in our work all the time. We realised that the non-profit organisations run by Indigenous people were using outdated technology. When we were working with the Friendship Centre Movement (FCM) (a group of independent non-profit organisations that offer services to Indigenous persons living in urban settings), we also noted this trend. We started designing and creating basic websites for them. This was how Ursa Creative began. The firm expanded its team and started creating websites and systems full-time. Over time, the team acquired the requisite skills to offer consultation services. We still provide technological services to Indigenous-run non-profits. We also assist any organisation seeking to advance its technological capabilities through our dedicated networking efforts.
