Barber License: In Arizona, to work as a barber stylist, an individual must hold a Barber License. To qualify for a Barber License, one must have successfully completed 1200 Hours of Barber Stylist Training from an accredited Barber School. Furthermore, one must have a GED or high school diploma. The candidate must also be 16 years of age or older. Purpose: -Our course introduces cuts, styles and techniques to prepare the students for Barber Stylist work. Theory is taught in the classroom with an instructor. Students will have lectures, some student practice, and demonstrations by the instructor. The course will prepare the student for the Arizona Board of Barbers Examination. Evaluation: -The student will need to take theory tests for each subject. Hands-on work is evaluated by the instructor. Students will also take a written test at the end of the course. All tests must be passed with a 75% or higher. Course Offered: -Our course is 1200 hours in length. The course is divided into the following three parts. In the first quarter of the course students will learn the basics of hair cutting and styling. Students will also learn theory about hair care and sanitation. The second part of the course (quarters 2 and 3) is a continuation. Students will learn more advanced hair cuts and styles. Students will also learn about hair coloring. The third quarter of the course (quarters 4 and 5) will emphasize all the knowledge that the student has gained in the first two quarters. The student will prepare for the State Board exam by working on clients. Teachers: -This course is taught by a licensed instructor.
