Progress House was founded in 1961 by men and women recovering from alcoholism who saw the need for a recovery center in Indianapolis. The first Progress House was at 2000 Block North New Jersey Street and could house ten men. In 1966, we moved to 1703 Talbot Street and then to 14 North Highland Street in 1969. Progress House relocated to its current premises at 201 Shelby Street in November 2001. Just one mile north of downtown Indianapolis, the facility has space for 25 men and thus can serve up to 100 men at a time. Most clients stay for 90 days to a year, depending on individual needs. Next Step, a sober apartment complex, was opened on January 1, 2014, to accommodate 48 men who completed the Progress House program. We became a subsidiary of Aspire Indiana Health on November 1, 2019. Aspire is an independent, nonprofit health provider that has been helping some of the most fragile Hoosiers for over half a century. Our clients receive care through an integrated "whole-health recovery" model that includes primary medical care, group and individual behavioral health counseling, 12-Step programs, case management, and skills training.

The Progress House center is a place where those recovering from addiction can get help. Many ex-patients have left positive feedback about the medical and therapy services available there. Many people also found a sense of community helpful. The center's regime is thought to be strict. The fact that many of those who have benefited from the center stay there and work could be interpreted as a plus. The services available at the center are geared towards those willing to change their lives. The matrices of service do not reek of concern. The principles are made fair. The facility of division the residential areas and the prison is a common one. The living conditions of the facility are good. That is likely to discourage people from staying there too long. Many former patients appear to have appreciated the fact that they could turn to the authorities for help. The facility is idealically situated. There are strict restrictions. Administrators think that people who remain at that level of information will get into trouble again. The employee also participates in ensuring the community standards are observed. The order exists, and people are encouraged to remain religious at all times. Administrators also say that people who cannot afford to pay more money would also be required to leave. Determination and humility are rewarding. The standards of the rehab center are high. Many people say they received help there.
