I have been a patient at Advanced Dermatology for years. Their actual medical service is fine, but this review is in response to their super shady billing practices. I went for a routine skin exam in March of this year with the same provider I have been seeing for years, Dr. Glassman. No other services were performed at the visit… it was just a simple skin exam. When I received the bill, I noticed that the billing code associated with “office visit” had changed from 99214 to 99213, and the cost of the visit itself increased OVER 380% from $117 to $446! Despite multiple phone calls to the billing department and attempts to communicate via email–most of which were not responded to–I kept getting the run around that “nobody knew” why the code changed. At one point the associate on the phone put me on hold to ask a manager, and replied with a corporate line which she herself admitted she did not understand. At no point was I warned that costs would be increasing so radically. I hate having to find a new dermatologist, especially after having a years-long relationship with this one, but I simply cannot trust the office to do right by patients when it comes to billing. I hope this review serves as a warning to anyone considering this practice.
I don't have problems with the doctors but the people who are selling skin products. Two weeks ago I asked them If I can have OBAGI Face Serum, she said they are not carry that anymore. She checked it again and she found two bottles left (I think they are expired) but there is no expiration date. So I bought them when I used it I notice one pimple appeared after I week I used it again another pimple appeared. I was out of town so I didn't have a chance to return them. Yesterday when I was trying to return they said I cannot return them because it has been two weeks already because that's their policy. I don't know that because it doesn't written at the back of the receipts. So I will just throw them away like throwing that cost $148.00.
Love Dr. Fischer but it’s impossible to get a hold of the office. I do not understand how difficult it can be to send a refill for one prescription. Not to mention extremely unprofessional staff. After calling and leaving message about (1) prescription three times a MA called me and just started yelling me. No “hi” or “hello”, the first thing she said to me was “Why did you call about medication? It's already here”. I am not sure what crime I committed by picking up the call but it was an odd experience lol. She refused to state her name and when I mentioned the prescription (clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide) to be sent over to my pharmacy of preference she kept insisting rx order for Dapsone instead. MY PARTICULAR insurance company (via letter) AND pharmacy (via phone) both have informed me that prescription labelled "clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide” is covered and it will not cover “Dapsone”. I am not sure why certain things are covered, I do not work for insurance. Instead of listening to what I had to say or explaining why she wanted to send Dapsone instead she just continued yelling and when I informed her that clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide is covered she sarcastically responded with “I’m sure they did”. Simple question, why would I lie about insurance/pharmacy telling me what’s covered vs what is not covered? I simply told the MA to send me clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide NOT dapsone yet she insisted that she cannot do that because her office manger told her not to. Not sure what the office manger has to do with this but I explain to her once again to please send clindamycin-benzoyl peroxide NOT Dapsone to which she responded with “Goodbye! Go fuck yourself!” and hang up. I understand that she might be having a bad day or something—I do not know the context. BUT the entire conversation was a waste of my time and I still do not have my medication.
