Bike Root Community Bike Shop

Bike Root Community Bike Shop is a non-profit community-run bicycle shop at the University of Calgary. Since its inception in 2008, it has been dedicated to promoting cycling. We strive for this through inclusion, education, and advocacy. Members share the space and tools, encountering a workspace similar to that of a traditional bike shop. At Bike Root, however, our emphasis is on empowerment. In this workshop, the members are encouraged to learn by repairing their bicycles, transforming a service into an educational experience. A knowledgeable volunteer will help you if you need him or her. The fully equipped Bike Root bike shop has all the tools and components you require. Bicycles are available for sale after they are overhauled. There are numerous opportunities to acquire bicycle repair knowledge. The shop is frequently open and accessible, so all members are welcome to test their skills on the bikes. Our ultimate goal is to give the skills and equipment required to keep bikes operational and enhance the cycling culture in Calgary, regardless of skill level. We promote cycling in Calgary by providing space and tools for bicycle maintenance, teaching skills, and organizing cycling-themed events.
