Horrible experience, stay away. Hit my credit 2 separate times (6 weeks apart) and did not even offer me a car.
I was looking for a car because I needed it for work, and financing one could help me build my credit.
I called the number to the house of cars through their website and was connected with the Barlow location. The sales person on the phone told me the best thing to do would be to run a credit check to see what I would qualify for. I complied and applied for financing with the sales rep. He told me would get back me next week as it was a Saturday and they were about to close.
The next week went by. I got no call back on the status from the sales person. I called back in to check In the status, the person (Edwin?) who took my call took a note and told me they would look into it and call me back. He didn't have my reference/account number and was going to look into it. After I hung up the phone I looked through email and messages I found the file number and called back, this time with another sales rep. I explained the situation and asked that he pass on the file number to Edwin. Once again, after two phone calls and two sales people knowing of my situation, I was let down and nobody called me back.
I was furious at HoC, and decided to let it go at this time as they wouldnt be getting my business. A couple of weeks later, the timing for needing a car was becoming more urgent for my new role at my job. I decoded to call House of Cars back again to see what was going on with my financing process. This was a mistake.
This time I went directly to the sales Manager Nick and told him my whole experience and how unprofessional it was to run my credit and the fully have his sales guys ghost me. I was not happy.
Nick agreed to take care of me personally and told me that the original guy who ran my credit quit and moved to Vancouver, which was likely why the second sales rep couldn't find my file.
Nick had set me up with his finance manager Kevin. Kevin told me we had to run another credit check because my application had timed out. Although I wasn't happy about running a second credit check with the same company that let be down, I took Nick and Kevin's word for it that they would take care of me this time.
The same experience happened again. I needed a car by the end of the month which I made very clear which was still 14 days out when we started the process. I got more of the same. Kevin would not call me back when he said he would, on one of the days he even lied saying he called which I checked my call ID for his number and it was not there. He kept telling me vague and general responses saying he was trying to see what he could get me into without giving me a definitive yes or no on the cars I was interested in. He kept everything from me and kept telling me I had to come in and see what they have instead of telling me on the phone. ( I had several picked out on the website I would be happy with but he told me I couldn't get access to them even though the first sales guy who ran my credit I could have access to the website lot before running my credit.)
I had a few days remaining before I needed a car and I told him I have between 4:00pm-5:00pm between my appointments. He confirmed that morning he would call me. He did not, once again he dropped the ball. At this point I was shopping for a cheaper used car in the private sector to have a backup option. I had started this process 6 weeks prior and still haven't got anything I was approved for days before my deadline.
I called Kevin the next day and he said "sorry I was with a client" even though I mentioned the urgency of my situation being that I had limited time left anf short windows in my work day to be setting this up.
Finally we landed on a vehicle on a Thursday. I was happy getting a Jeep Cherokee. He said he needed to work on the financing portion of it to get my approved. I said okay, but just so you know I 100% need a vehicle by next Tuesday and if it's not sorted I have to buy a cheap car privately.

Friday evening I called to check the status, he told me he needed until Monday and he would call me Monday.
Kevin never called me on Monday, or any day after speaking with him on Friday and I ended up buying the cheap car privately.
HoC hit my credit twice and never offered me a vehicle. Their sales team is horrible at returning calls and having any integrity to what they tell their customers.
I was trying to rebuild my credit and only made it worse with them. Nick duped me into a second credit check and wasted my time after promising me he would take care of me.
Stay Away, they are many more professional dealerships out there. They have lost my business forever
