Lordco Auto Parts was established in 1974 by Roy Lord and Ed Coates in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The company's first location was very successful, quickly becoming an iconic auto parts retailer in the community known for selling high-quality auto parts and providing exceptional customer service. The automotive industry began to recognise Lordco and, as a result, the firm expanded throughout the region. At the start, the company was only a store owned by Roy Lord and Ed Coates. In 1980, Ed acquired Roy's share in the business. When Ed passed away in 2014, his family launched the Ed Coates Memorial Foundation to preserve Ed's heritage. Marlyn and children Samantha, Ian, Sarah, and Candace are part of Lordco Auto Parts' Executive Leadership Team, having acquired his business principles. Initially, the store was only 900 square feet. It has all grown to be the largest privately-owned automotive parts distributor in Canada. Western Canada's most significant retailer and distributor of aftermarket accessories and components. More than 80 stores exist, including nine truck centers and seven central distribution centres. There are over 2,000 workers, 500 delivery cars, and over 360,000 component numbers.
