Marda Loop Barber Shop is a place I have worked hard to own. For 23 years, my father ran Spruce Grove’s salon. I watched and later lived there. I took hair cutting and coloring lessons at Delmar College after finishing college. I gave both male and female clients haircuts and coloring treatments in Spruce Grove. This was also where I was taught various cutting styles and techniques. I then moved back to Calgary and started my journey by managing a barbershop. I have a lot of experience in this field and Marda Loop is now my home location. The Barber Shop serves customers who want first-class services in Cuts Shaves and Color.

If you are queer or trans, please avoid this facility. It is not safe for people like us here. A client and barber right next to me were have a very agreeable discussion among themselves about hurting trans people, the alphabet mafia, indoctrination of kids with drag shows, and then when brought to the barber's attention, he defends his statements saying that he was trying to change the client's mind. The client was also extremely racist against, and I quote, "the blacks." I will not repeat what was said, but it was not good. The barber also agreed, stating that "the blacks" were slave owners too. The apology was an apology for getting caught. It wasn't an apology for allowing an unsafe environment for queer and/or POC. I can't say that they will not have homophobic or racist clients in this establishment. Their actions today have proven that they cannot be trusted with the safety of queer and black people here.
