About this business

I fell in love with dogs as a teenager while shadowing at the SPCA. There was once an old shelter located near the Yellowhead River that most Edmontonians don't know about. The shelter was in a bad way, dark and spooky, with a very grim atmosphere. Until I decided veterinary medicine was not my forte, I tried a few different career options. There was a revelation when I realized that the main reason for so many animals being abandoned is behavioral issues. I decided to learn how to train them. High Paw Dog Training aims to create strong bonds between pets and owners. The health of both you and your dog is the top priority. Our fur babies are our family. Our aim is to help you establish a training regimen that will provide a rich and fulfilling life for your pet and you. The emphasis is on obedience principles. It is easy to teach a dog to lay or sit down. It is quite another thing to get them to want to, do it when and how you ask, and to respond to your cues. This class is for you and your dog. You will learn the basic body language in dogs to understand it, and how to reinforce the behavior. We will break down the training into easy-to-follow steps so you can keep up. Positive reinforcement, along with consistent reinforcement, will give you and your pet a flawless cue. You can start by learning the basic skills such as sit, down, and recall. Then you can learn more advanced tricks such as jumping through hoops. Once these essential skills are mastered, the sky is the limit for what you can teach your furry friend.
