Digital architects and visionaries collaborate at a digital architecture practice. Next's future lies in construction. Next was started in 2016 as there was a way. We do not accept traditional notions and are pioneering new ways to work. We continually remind ourselves of our purpose and the critical role we play as innovative leaders. We challenge everything and form our practice with robust approaches and dynamic data. Next Architecture, an Edmonton-based digital architecture practice and CYNC Architecture, headquartered Calgary, have formed a strategic partnership. Allan uses the title RAIC RCA IPC NAA 300+25/15 (where “RAIC” is the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, “RCA” is the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts, “IPC” is the Institute for Performance and Control of Buildings, and “NAA” is the National Academy of Architects). Allan has been a registered and practicing architect for more than 37 years. His hands-on and detailed approach focuses on new building methods that emphasize budget, quality, and function. He has also won numerous design awards in the last two decades. In 2005, he was awarded the Alberta Centennial Medal because of his commitment to the people of Alberta. Since 2004, Allan has been the president of Canada BIM Council. He also speaks at various conferences around the world, domestically and internationally, about BIM and IPD. For his application of BIM, Allan received the Autodesk Green Building Award. Despite these recognitions, Allan considers himself more of a walker than a talker. Allan is constantly seeking out and utilizing new technologies to reimagine architectural practice. Architects can design ways that are out of the norm and improve their engagement. He performs as a coach and player with highly collaborative teams to create solutions that result in high-performance results, positive outcomes, progress, and added value for owners, eliminating uncertainty in cost and schedule.
