Founded in 2003, the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts is a unique arts organization in Edmonton that offers a community of artists living with developmental disabilities. The original collective included only one individual in the organization's 111 Avenue location, but the group has expanded to over 200 artists today. The collective has exhibited locally, across Canada, and globally. The organization's journey traces its path to 9225 118th Avenue. The Nina Collective found its new home on Alberta Avenue in 2009. They were delighted to find their own home and be part of a neighborhood that has seen revitalization through the arts. One-on-one mentoring, workshops, and small-group sessions are all offered in the Nina studio by a team of practicing, professional artists. The Nina artists work in many mediums, including drawing, painting, clay, fiber arts, printmaking, and dance. The Nina Stollery Gallery is also housed in the Nina. Its mandate is to showcase the work of artists who may not be well served by mainstream galleries. Including the gallery's artists (representing diverse backgrounds), the gallery displays the work of Nina artists. The organization's online store and gift shop features the original artwork of selected artists.

Becca Barrington and the team stand out for the positive energy they bring to the Centre, creating a dynamic, collaborative, original and exciting art environment. Visitors also offered positive feedback about the variety of programs available, with students at different levels more than satisfied. Art lovers will also experience amazing art, enhanced by the enthusiasm of the performers. Meeting new artists at the Centre opens up new creative avenues, while many of them have stayed for many years. Instructors like Lorraine Shulba are very passionate about helping others develop their skills and will go the extra mile to ensure that learners have fun and learn. Comfort and encouragement go hand in hand with the supportive and inclusive art community, and many commented on the safety and freedom to express their thoughts. There are classes that are free to the community, with supplies included, and some of the art work you can purchase. []. Highly recommended for new and ex- students and anyone looking to explore their own artistic boundaries.
