Since 1992, the Pygmalion School of Fine Arts has been led by Dixie R. Orriss. The school provides quality instruction with intensive individual guidance and smaller class sizes in a studio-style atmosphere. Pygmalion is known for its innovative and competent reputation. Students are encouraged to develop their art theory, including painting, drawing, and sculpting techniques. With the progressive method, students can surpass amateur status and create their own art style. The students can choose a medium from a variety of mediums based on their interests. The student can select a medium or work on the Progressive Development Program. The mediums are pastels, pencils, crayons, ink and colored pencils, oils, acrylics, clay sculptures, mixed media, watercolors, and so on. All students can draw or paint as long as they are interested and willing to learn! The instructor gives every student individual attention and lets them learn at their speed. There is ample attention from the instructor when the classes are small. The student can present their best work to the public every year at the annual showing. The best work by students will be displayed and will not have a jury, so all students can showcase their art in shows in the future. The Student Art segment features art created by various talented Pygmalion students.
