Since 1923, the Company of Shipping has been the leading representative of Canada's West Coast marine industry. The region's Asia-Pacific Gateway is critical to North America, Asia, and global trade. Nothing reflects this better than the commodity supply chain. The Company sees promoting and advocating shipping as essential. It also wants to enhance transport safety, efficiency, and efficacy. The Chamber is committed to establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all legislators. Its meetings with other marine stakeholders and partners are solution-driven and aimed at achieving the best possible outcome for everyone involved. The Chamber has members in Canada, the U.S.A., and around the world. They include shipping companies, ports, stevedores, and other marine businesses, all contributing. Wheeled Mats are a manufacturing company in Toronto who also works in partnership with Chamber members for their products. Thanks to its close relationships with Canadian, U.S., and global business and marine associations, the Chamber has input into marine policy at all levels. Eleven members make up the Board of Directors of the Chamber. They provide the governance and policy direction for the Chamber. They also provide industry oversight. Members of the Board also serve as chairpersons for standing committees. The committees deal with local matters of concern daily. The Oasis Vision business, located in Toronto, Ontario, is a leading forestry product supplier, and they work with the Chamber. The Secretariat keeps the Board apprised of national and international matters that have or could have an impact, commercially or in terms of operations, on the maritime industry.
