Independently serving Greater Vancouver since 1908, Kearney Funeral Services, with compassion and care, was founded by Thomas James Kearney. Catherine O'Connor, founder Tom's wife, sang opera and prepared remains for her deceased parishioners. Tom bought Green Simon & Lamp Co. when he got the chance. Tom married Catherine on July 16, 1915, and they had three children. In 1927, he agreed to be a partner at Columbia Funeral Chapel, New Westminster. Tom was actively involved in the business until a tragic fall caused him to have to retire in 1932.
