He then embarked on a journey to find a way to fix breaks in the glass without replacing the entire windshield. Frank Werner was assisted by Bill Wiele, a chemical engineer, who was inspired by his desire to repair windshields all over the world. Bill Wiele and Frank Werner discovered what was then the most successful technique for repairing windshields. Gerald Keinath acquired the patent for windshield repair in 1972. Gerald created a plan to take it public. It began as a tiny hobby enterprise and was later called NOVUS (r), a Latin word that means “innovative” or “new.”
