Pre-treatment Guidelines Do not take blood thinners like Motrin and Ibuprofen for at least one week before the treatment. Garlic, Vitamin E, and Ginkgo Biloba supplements should be avoided. In the three days before the treatment, don't use top-tier products like Retinols (Retina), Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, and Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Don't wax, bleach, or pluck the treated area. Don't drink alcohol 24 hours before or after treatment to prevent more bruising. Inform your doctor if you worry about Perioral Herpes. Avoid BOTOX/DYSPORT(tm) if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, allergic to any substance, or have any neurological disorders. Tell your doctor if you have any questions. Day of Treatment Please remove all makeup, and bring any extra makeup after your treatment. After injection, you may experience slight tenderness, stinging, or other discomfort. Swelling and redness are frequent side effects. The treated areas may bruise. Pain may persist for a few hours to a few days in some instances. Following the treatment, you can start exercising the treated muscles for at least 1-2 hours. You can frown, look at your eyes, and raise your eyebrows. This can help integrate BOTOX/DYSPORT into your muscles. For 4 hours after injection, stay upright whenever possible. Do not rest or lie flat. Sit up straight and apply an ice pack or cold gel to the treated region (do not apply too much pressure). This will help to reduce swelling and minimize bruising. After the application of ice, and your injection sites, the pinpoint bleeding has ceased, you may apply makeup. For a few days after the treatment, avoid putting too much pressure on the treated area. Be gentle when washing your face and applying makeup. Do not participate in any strenuous or physical activity within the next 24 hours. After that, you may resume your normal routine and activities. You can take Tylenol or Acetaminophen if you feel minor tenderness or discomfort. Until the swelling and redness have diminished, avoid extended UV exposure. Apply sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30. You must wait at least 14 days before receiving any laser or skin care treatments. We are always available for any questions, comments, or suggestions.
