Madam Justice Huddart, Jane Henderson, QC, and Kay Melbye, for whom the firm is named, have developed family law since Trudi first began practicing in Victoria. Brown Acheson Henderson & Kay, formed in 1985 when Trudi Brown QC & Jane Henderson QC joined hands with Deborah Acheson & Judith Kay. AKA “The Broads on Broad Street” The Broads on Broad Street. Trudi and Jane have always concentrated their practice on families, children, and the elderly. Brown Henderson Melbye’s founding lawyers are critical contributors to family law in BC. Deborah Judith Kay, Kay Melbye, a family lawyer born and raised in Victoria, began practicing as a general litigator but switched to family law in 2001. Melbye joined Brown Henderson Melbye in 2009. In 2009, Jane retired from the firm. Brown Henderson Melbye helps clients with family law issues by providing full-service legal services. Our seven lawyers have extensive legal experience helping clients navigate this complex legal landscape. BHM’s lawyers, Trudi, Kay, Shauna Tucker, Samantha Rapoport, Carli Ziegler Jake Holm, and Clay John, offer the advice and legal guidance you need to navigate complex legal situations. Clay John and Samantha Rapoport were both articling students at the firm, and Samantha did a Law Cooperative with the firm before she articled. Shauna has worked in a variety of legal fields, including complex litigation in a large Vancouver firm, elder law, and child law. Carli Ziegler, a South African lawyer, and former attorney in family and wills and estates law, joined our team.
