About Noah Layne Academy of Realist Art: Noah Layne is an award-winning Canadian-American realist artist who works at a studio in Victoria BC Canada. The galleries and shows of North America have featured his art. He was shortlisted for Canada's National Portrait Competition, "The Kingston Prize", and a Hudson River Fellow at New York. Painting and drawing are Noah's passions, which he discovered as a child. The child of American, Dutch, and Indonesian parents, Noah was born at St Andrews in New Brunswick, Canada. His family moved from St Andrews, New Brunswick to Massachusetts, Kentucky, Alberta, and finally settled in Victoria, BC. Noah was encouraged to follow his artistic passion as a child. Layne began painting by copying paintings by Rembrandt and Winslow Homer when he was ten. He learned various painting techniques and was influenced by artists such as Bouguereau and Rembrandt. Noah primarily works with oil and is an expert draftsman. He emphasizes the importance of working from life. Noah started teaching in 2008 and is a committed and enthusiastic teacher. Noah founded the Noah Layne Academy of Realist Art in 2014.
