The Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre Inc. (MFNERC) commenced operations in 1998 by the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, serving First Nations schools in Manitoba with the finest education, technology, and language services. AMC decided that MFNERC would organize second- and third-level education services for Manitoba's First Nations schools through a resolution. MFNERC presently provides services and support to 58 First Nations schools in 49 Manitoba First Nations. MFNERC changed from a small organisation providing support on demand to a few employees to a diversified business that meets the First Nations school's needs with a combination of services. The Centre has been able to assist schools and communities by respecting Manitoba's First Nations. The service delivery team model promotes best practices based on academic research and years of experience with First Nations. MFNERC provides professional development for school board members, school administrators, teachers, and teaching assistants. With Manitoba First Nations as partners, MFNERC delivers the best education possible in First Nations schools. MFNERC promotes First Nations participation in all aspects of education change development and implementation.
