Ben has been involved in pet behaviour and training for over 10 years. His family adopted their dog Sadie from the Winnipeg Humane Society in 2012 after she proved aggressive and reactive towards strangers and other dogs. Sadie was given a lot of attention, and certain days, the family had arranged playdates with a variety of people. Sadie quickly adapted to her new life with a lot of patience and constructive interactions. Unfortunately, Sadie died of liver cancer before her 15th birthday in October 2021. Ben started his career while studying Psychology at the University of Manitoba by volunteering at a doggie daycare. He gained practical experience in different parts of the animal industry, including working in veterinary offices, various animal shelters, pet boarding facilities, pet food stores, and home pet care. Additionally, he started hosting and instructing training lessons for shelter dogs himself. Ben was a Winnipeg Humane Society Behaviour Counsellor and Behaviour Programms Coordinator for most of 2019. Recently, he started working at a pet dog boarding facility as a behavior counselor. Ben got an English Labrador Retriever, Cooper, as an 8-week old puppy in June 2020. Cooper was successfully trained and he's a loving, energetic goofball.

Ben, from Polite Pets, is an exceptional dog trainer and reviewer. Specifically, he has helped countless pet owners with expert guidance and support at all times of the day. Whether you are training your new puppy or handling a reactive rover, Ben's expertise and professionalism will ensure that you and your pet are comfortable. His dog-centric approach, utilizing high play, rewards and clear direction, has made the dog training experience unfavorable. Also, he came up with detailed training plans that accounted for the pet and owners' capabilities and limitations, thus resonating with Gemma and Arnold in a union of trust and positive behaviour. Additionally, Ben used positive reinforcement to show his dedication and helped Boss build confidence. To that end, we recommend Ben very highly to anyone in need of dog training.
