Roger Watson Jewellers began when a young married couple combined their vision, hard work, ideas, integrity, experience, and business sense (Roger grew up in the business and had over 17 years' experience in the business, climbing the ranks of Henry Birks and Sons to become the manager of fine jewellery in Lower Canada; Karen also began her career with the company and brought with her a skill set that included accounting and bookkeeping). In 1979, the couple, who had started a family, formed the company. Roger ran the retail operations, while Karen kept track of the finances and paperwork. Their vision and dream are quite alive, even today. Their children, John GIA Graduate jewellery designer, and Heather, are there to help them—in retrospect, it remains an important family business model (Roger Watson Jewellers, 2019). Now it is a Canadian family-owned and operated company.
