Ken Barnard was born in Halifax and moved to Toronto to continue his training in funeral services in the 1960's. After graduating from Humber College, he was awarded his Ontario Embalmers and Funeral Directors licensure. Ken worked in Toronto's oldest funeral home until 1986. Ken worked for Bates & Dodds from 1986 to 1986. He then returned home to Nova Scotia to open the Bedford funeral home with his family. It was a few years later that our Sackville branch opened, and the Halifax location followed. Ken Barnard was born and raised in Halifax. He moved as a kid with his family to Rockingham. Then, as an teen, he moved to Bedford with Janet, his 35-year-old wife. Brooke, their daughter, moved to Toronto in order to attend University. She still resides there. Their son Timothy works alongside Janet and Ken in the business.

After the 1973 death of Mr. MacDonald, Phillip Levandier was appointed the operator and the owner. Since 1973, Phillip Levandier has been operating the company with his wife Julie.
