* * * * C a u t I o n * * * * B e w a r e * * * * We all love our our little pet buddies. That being said, let me share our horrific experience with the notorious “Emergency Veterinary Clinic, Hwy 10” (at Wexford Road). In the last couple of days of August 23 we were experiencing a terrible situation where wasp’s were making a nest in one of our neighbour’s vents. This resulted in there being an increased population of wasp’s in the area, to the point where we had to kill about a dozen inside our house. On Aug.31st around 5PM, our little Bigon/Pomeranian (16lbs) began acting totally out of character, favouring a hind leg, unable to sit or lay down and crying uncontrollably. I picked him up to examine his underside and he screamed in extreme pain. His underside was extremely red & swollen. We brought him the EVC Hwy 10 where we had to wait in the parking lot and call them to let them know we were waiting outside to see one of the Vets. We explained the symptoms to the gentleman on the phone while he wrote everything up. We continued to wait in the parking lot until someone else called me to ask what the issue was, so I explained it all again for the 2nd time and I was sure to tell them about our episode with the wasp’s in the house and that maybe he had been stung by a wasp. We were instructed to wait and we would get a call when they were ready for us. Can someone please tell these mask wearing people that Covid and the regulations that went along with it are over and that they can start treating people normally, with some compassion & maybe even a little empathy as opposed to a cash register transaction. We then received another call when we were told they were going to come out and let us in. We waited until they came out and brought us into the office and directly into a consultation room. They then took our little buddy out of the room we were in and examined him privately. We could hear him crying out in pain as they were examining him. Shortly afterward, someone else brought our little buddy back to us. We then sat there, in this tiny room with a small dog who I think I mentioned, was in great discomfort and pain. The Vet then entered the room to tell us he had a skin infection and they prescribed antibiotics & a pain killer. I asked her if it could be a tic or possibly a wasp sting considering the previously mentioned situation with the wasp’s (which I mentioned to each of the people I spoke with there that night, the Vet herself included). She said it was not a wasp sting, it was a skin infection and we should give him the antibiotics and a pain killer if he gets worse. That was about $300 and a couple of hours. We returned home and gave him the antibiotics, that was a challenge to say the least. The following morning we could clearly see where he had in fact been stung by a Wasp so we stopped administering the antibiotics. We’re happy to say, our little buddy is feeling much better and back to himself after about 48 hours. Although all of this was very disturbing, to add insult to injury, these reticula’s people went and tagged our cute little furry friend as a potential biter. This little guy wouldn’t bit anyone even if they were covered in peanut butter, he is a real loveable little guy. I wouldn’t take our little guy back to this Vet even if they were the only place on earth that was open. These people should not be able to work with peoples pets or any animals for that matter. Please think twice if you need “professional medical assistance” for your pet, this is not the place to get help.
