Our Goal Creating a culture that values and supports civic leadership and engagement, particularly for young people to make change in their communities. Since 2020, over 40 young people in Hamilton and surrounding communities have been served by this program. Why Hamilton Civic Leadership Program? Hamilton Centre For Civic Inclusion aims to mobilize all Hamiltonians to build a warm and inclusive city. Leadership program participants study how to deepen their own understanding of democracy, non-hierarchical governance, and community organizing. They will learn how to organize locally and engage their peers to build civic engagement and strengthen youth participation. The program is of particular interest to Hamilton's Black, Indigenous, Trans and Non-Binary youth. The leadership program was founded in 2020 and Nrinder Nann (City of Hamilton Councillor) was selected to run it. Hamilton Civic Leadership Program was one of the few projects that Councilor Nrinder Nann established when she was not in politics. Nrinder has been using the approach she made for this program, with a few adjustments, since 2020.
