Parent and Family Involvement
At Westdale Co-operative Preschool, parents and their families are crucial to successful operation. The co-operative model of this preschool means that all families are essential to its operations. Our RECEs are teachers and are responsible for teaching the children in the classroom, so family members do most of the administrative work. Since every family member is needed to keep our preschool running, parents are required to help with some of the preschool's day-to-day chores. Other activities include making play dough, collecting library books, and planning special events and parties. We also create opportunities for family members to come together and make new friends year after year. Our goal is to build a community of families who support each other and create happy, unique memories for their children.
Kindergarten Prep
Our preschool is intended to prepare kids for kindergarten by teaching them essential skills like social- and self-regulation. We strive to prepare kids for learning by helping them investigate, wonder, and have fun. Our educators aim to promote a sense of belonging and engagement, as well as causing thinking and communicating (expression), creative and practical thinking (creativity), and mental and physical well-being.
