With a long history since 1970, Lutherwood offers services for children's mental and employment as well as housing and other supports to more than 17,000 families in Waterloo Region. At Lutherwood, these programs are put within a supportive and caring environment delivered by experienced professionals. Programs have been established to provide assistance and support to those who need it, and they were built upon the foundations of compassion, best practices, and innovation. In 1970, Lutherwood began as a foreclosure project sponsored by the Lutheran Church of Canada. Ten trees were felled in 1969 to create a 10-bed live-in facility for men with serious mental illnesses. The modern, vibrant site now features three programs and a school, with an adjacent site hosting a specialized centre for children with mental disorders.

The feedback shows that Lutherwood has a supportive staff that is professional and leaders in advising on employment services. Barb and Maria received positive comments, with several clients speaking on how they benefited from their resumes. They would like to recommend them for career advice because the information was helpful. This led to faster service, and they went back to school or found a job quickly. The environment is described as friendly, and attendees feel positive about the encounter, even the odd negative comments. Clients highly recommend this for job seekers. High recommendations make them five-stars.
