I have spent my entire life caring for animals, particularly those in dire need. My house is full of rescued cats and dogs. My first rescued animal was a beagle named Molly. She had been abandoned and was very sick when I found her. At the age of 2, she became a Therapy dog from St. John's Ambulance. For a full year, she was treated with kindness, love, and dignity. Each contact she made brought a smile and humor with her. We had seven amazing years together. But unfortunately, we lost our angel to cancer. Our house is now home to three rescue animals who are no longer alive. We had a Bengal named Skreech, who was rescued from an abusive home, and Hershey, a tripod dog. We loved them for six years. Sweet Pea, an abandoned and frightened Foxhound, and Popeye, an 11-year-old Coonhound with a Grade IV murmur and congestive heart failure and diabetes, were rescued together. They were released in 2018. Popeye was my 4th and Sweet Pea 6, respectively, of all the wonderful years in my life. Before we could even celebrate our 5th year with Sweet Pea, she had passed and we took Beau home. He was an 8-year-old Bloodhound whose life was spent in chains. Beau had an excellent time with us. He died of cancer in January 2021. He was a gentle giant; he was heartbroken. We adopted Wyatt, a Bluetick Coonhound. He was one year old when the previous owner tried to shoot him because he wasn't a good hunter. He was a happy dog but he didn't need a bullet. Our calico Hershey died in 2022. She was my 15-year-old feline love. I was there to comfort her. For more than 30 years, I worked as a veterinary assistant, so I am proficient in oral and injectable medication. Knowing how to deal with different types and sizes of cats and dogs is a plus. I have volunteered with rescue organizations for many years.
