History of Guardsman Insurance Services Keith Watson began his insurance brokerage in the late 1950s, where he advised his customers on their insurance needs and placed his customers according to their preferences. Keith's integrity and work ethic led to his success, prompting him to start his own insurance agency, which evolved into Guardsman Insurance Services. With Kingston, Ontario, as its headquarters, Guardsman Insurance Services Inc. was incorporated in May 1971. As the insurance industry has changed, so has Guardsman Insurance Services, growing significantly from its beginnings in the rural farmland of South Eastern Ontario, with locations in Kingston, Ottawa, and Bancroft, and now serving customers across the province. Guardsman Insurance is a family business, and Keith's family continues to operate it today. In 2013, Keith's grandson, Thomas, purchased the business, ensuring it would remain family-owned and run to serve Ontario clients for generations to come (Guardsman Insurance Services, n.d.).
