The birth of Natural Sole Wellness Centre occurred after the realization that beauty, health, and wellness could all be found in one location. Sarab Dormani, a registered nurse who has been assisting people for as long as she can recall, had a tragic leg injury in 2018. She had to change careers. Her nursing education in the foot care area stuck with her, making her think how crucial your feet are to your health. The injury resulted in a new career direction for Sarab. Sarab took the necessary continuing nursing education courses studying foot health, and she also fell in love. The profession offered a path to recovery, and she began dreaming of a wellness center. This was a place where clients could get medical foot care to prevent and manage chronic illness. It was also a place where clients could relax and be pampered. Sarab had always wanted to open a wellness centre that offered a variety of treatments (Dormani & Parent, 2022). While she was planning the wellness center, she asked her friend Frederic Parent for help. Sarab had a management and business background, but Frederic had a strong academic and career background in organizational behaviour. She felt that she needed his assistance in opening the clinic. Their friendship flourished, and their clinic, Natural Sole Wellness Centre, was ready to open in March 2020. However, these small business owners' lives have never been the same since the pandemic. Sarab and Frederic had the nursing and management background to make the clinic "pandemic-ready." It was designed with stringent rules, restrictions, and scarce supplies. Due to the pandemic, the clinic had to open in June, with strict protocols on who could be seen and how often. They had only a few clients each day because Sarab and Frederic were not ready for the pandemic. Sarab and Frederic had to adjust quickly as new information came out every day. They required everyone to wear a mask and use hand sanitizer upon entering the clinic. Clients were not allowed to bring bags or other personal items into the clinic. They also needed to wash their hands before getting any treatments. Sarab and Frederic's clinic was initially restricted to one person at a time, but they were able to use two rooms for one-on-one treatments. They opened three rooms and added a fourth room in September because they were getting so many requests. Sarab and Frederic were able to provide their community with a sense well-being despite three lockdowns within a little over a year. People have flocked to their clinic and given them the strength to push through each difficult lockdown. Clientele has increased and widened since their launch.
