I left my dog Kobe with Belen in February of 2023. The result of this experience has been nothing short of catastrophic. Kobe was returned to me with irreversible damage to several of his teeth. Our vet has advised that the extent of the damage could be explained by physical abuse, a fight with another dog, or distress over being crated for extended periods. According to my vet, the most likely explanation is that Kobe became distressed while crated. Kobe was not accustomed to being crated and Belen was advised of this fact in advance. She assured me that it was not her intention to leave Kobe crated and alone, particularly at night. It seems he was crated in a dark basement for hours at a time. As a result, Kobe has required surgery, and treatments for infection. His mouth is permanently disabled, which has made eating and holding objects a challenge for him. He has also continued to show serious behavioural issues including anxiety. Belen has not responded to any communications seeking redress for the damages caused. Accordingly, I am filing a complaint with a number of regulatory authorities. I strongly suggest that dog owners exercise great caution in choosing the dog training and boarding services of Sunny Dog Training Ottawa. Ask a lot of questions and get her representations concerning the methods she uses, in writing. Personally, I would not use Sunny Dog Training Ottawa again, nor would I recommend this business to anyone who truly cares for the well being of their pet.

Belen's inconsistency, such as suggesting additional training and later deeming it a waste of time and money, raised serious doubts about her expertise. I had hoped for a positive experience for my son and our new puppy, but unfortunately, Belen's services fell far short of expectations. I caution others to carefully consider their options before choosing this trainer.
