ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Barry Stroud and Carolyn MacKay founded the preschool program in 1976 at Western Technical-Commercial School. It was also urged by the play school concept. Family Studies students were encouraged to play with children as they were their primary intention. The school arranged with Barry Stroud to use a vacant classroom as a playschool. An advertisement was posted in The Villager, Bloor West, which recruited a few children. Flyers went up on the telephone poles all over the neighborhood. This area was booming with baby boomers, and there was a huge response. There was plenty of space for children at the school. During the first three weeks of the fall and spring months, the play school met every morning. It was the start of our relationship. The Children's Creative Corner Co-operative Nursery school is non-competitive and offers children a rich, varied play environment. This helps them move from home to neighbors and other communities in a friendly, protective group environment. Our curriculum's main goal is to promote several of its students' individuality and creativity. This will help students feel comfortable, imaginative, and take risks. Skills training is based on this goal.
