I used New Canadian Plumbing twice in the past few years and was completely satisfied. Their prices are high around $300-$500 per hour but as an absentee landlord I was willing to accept them in exchange for peace of mind. That’s why I called them again two days ago.Their response was very fast, plumber was on the job within an hour. One of the ladies (Diane) answering the calls was very nice and patient. Unfortunately this time around these are the only positive aspects of my experience. I called because I suspected that sewage pump didn’t work properly. When washing machine drained the water it flowed “upstream” and came out through shower and toilet instead of being pumped out of the house. The plumber who showed up talked to me on the phone but he made impression like he never heard of sewage pump before in his life and convinced me that he has to clean the drain pipe first. My argument that water went “upstream” through the pipe without problem didn’t changed his mind. Reluctantly I agreed and he used the snake through the shower drain for $460 but the toilet was still full of backed up sewer. In his opinion toilet was too dirty to work on so he offered to replace it for $750. Since my peace of mind and tenant wellbeing is paramount I agreed. Few hours later new toilet was in place but, wait for it, the plumber realized that sewage pump was not working properly. Back to square one for $1210 plus tax. After a while another plumber arrived with a new pump (I wish he was the one who came five hours prior) and $1460 later the real problem was fixed. Since the tenant had to go to a meeting she asked the plumbers to lock the door and leave the key with the neighbor. Unfortunately they departed without doing that, didn’t call anybody on completion and the place was left unlocked. The company has apologized for that since. They left the place filthy, used tenants towels to contain sewage and didn’t take enough steps to minimize the mess. I asked for a picture of new pump with a serial number and didn’t get it. I asked for written warranty and got it with difficulty. Expected much more.
