Tattoo People began when the first store was opened at Hongdae Art Centre in Seoul by a tattoo artist known as Khan J. Tattooing was a lesser-known, underground profession with a legacy of stigmatization. Despite the continued criminalization of the industry in South Korea, Khan pursued his passion alongside other artists and friends. Khan opened his second studio in Busan, where he met Jaclyn. Since the couple met, they have been working together in art and business. Jaclyn moved to Toronto, Canada, where they opened Tattoo People Toronto. Artists from all over the world have made Toronto their home since then. The studio realized it could blend the Annex's cool, modern style with the essence of traditional Korean culture. Toronto Tattoo People Toronto is based on friendship and creativity. Many people have supported the art studio's founders, friends, and family since its founding.
