ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

McTague Law Firm LLP provides a view into McTague Law Firm LLP's deep history and our innovative thinking in Windsor and Essex counties for over almost 100 years. Through its 1920s founding, the law firm's relationships have expanded tenfold. As a result, McTague promotes a culture built on client service, giving its clients various relationship-based solutions. The company's founder was Charles P. McTague, who became Deputy Attorney General. The Company, which practiced with the firm, accepted the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1935. Justice McTague was promoted to the Court of Appeal in the Province of Ontario, where he worked until his retirement. The Honourable Justice Charles McTague retired. When Justice McTague accepted the appointment of Chairman, National Labour Relations Board, Justice McTague became involved in various initiatives. Justice McTague was also a member of the Wartime Contracts Board. Later, he became Counsel to the Investment Dealers Association of Canada. Helen McTague, Miss Helen McTague and other key partners' focus on providing relevant solutions for clients is a testament to their commitment. Miss Helen McTague joined the firm as a partner in 1923, supporting him until her retirement in 1967. Mr. Charles P. McTague and the law firm expanded their practice to include development, civil litigation, and corporate law. The company's first partners include James H. Clark, later the Speaker of the Ontario Legislature, Lorne A. Cumming (later the City Solicitor, City of Windsor), and Armand Racine. In 1941, Mr. Charles J. Clark, Q.C., The McTague Law Firm, welcomed Mr. Charles J. Clark, Q.C., as a partner in the firm. Mr. Clark had a long and prosperous career as a Senior Counsel for Corporate Commercial almost 53 years before his retirement. He devoted much of his time to the community while working with the Firm. Throughout his career, Mr. Charles J. Clark was a leader in the community, promoting growth and development and prosperity for many community projects, including the University of Windsor, and he also served as the Chairman of its Board of Governors. Many of these boards were volunteer positions as well. He was specifically appointed by the Government of Ontario to review medical and related practices. Mr. Charles J. Clark's dedication to Windsor and surrounding cities and towns in the Windsor-Essex region has left a lasting positive impact and it can be felt. The McTague Law Firm merged with Whiteside, Coughlin & Whiteside in 1967. This firm was founded by John Rodd & Ernest Wigle in 1930. Rodd was a well-known counsel and was the last person to present before the Judicial Committee of Privy Council. Wigle was elected Mayor of Windsor in the late 1930s. John W. Whiteside was a partner in the firm from 1976 until he took a job with the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor. Maurice F. Coughlin worked with the firm from 1976 to 1983. McTagues partners In 1981, the McTague Firm's partners purchased the land and the law firm's building in the economic downturn in the City of Windsor. They built these offices. This was a sign of the commitment and dedication to our clients and the community. In 2017, McTague LLP acquired land at 777 Ouellette Avenue, where they are now planning a tower to enhance the appearance and presence in the City of Windsor. Since 1920, McTague has continued to grow and expand while remaining a positive force for change. McTague has always responded to its community's changing needs and desires. One thing that has not changed in the almost 100 years of the firm's history is its commitment to providing excellent client service. By understanding where you came from, you can direct where you want to go. McTague's long history means McTague is determined to continue offering excellent service based on a foundation of core values, leadership, and integrity while maintaining a relentless passion for serving our clients.
