Winstars Gymnastics & Fitness Centre was established in 1996 by Melanie Rose and her parents Paul and Rosemary. Paul and Rosemary were the first to provide competitive and recreational gymnastics in Windsor many years before. Paul was involved in gymnastics competition in the 1960s. Rose was a woman artist judge for more than 25 years. Initially, St. Peter's Elementary School was used for Windsor's "Flippers". The Windsor "Flippers" began providing a women's art and sports aerobic competitive program in addition to a recreational program. In September 1999, the Windsor "Flippers" established a new permanent home on Tecumseh Road and Parent Avenue. Melanie, who accepted a teaching position at Scarborough Board of Education in the summer of 1999, moved to Toronto. Paul, Melanie's father, took over management of the gymnastics club. In October 1999, Carey Vigneux began training his male competitors at Windsor «Flippers». Carey and Melanie started negotiations for the sale. After months of negotiation and paperwork, ownership was transferred to Carey Vigneux in January 2000. Winstars Gymnastics was born then.
