SUMMARY   Reviews Summary

Academie Le Papillon, in Montreal is highly recommended by its clients who have nothing but praise for their services. The school has the best barbers in the town. Clients, who have visited this school on numerous occasions, have only positive feedbacks. Papi, the person who founded this salon, has a massive number of clients as they depend on his quality work. Papi is always in direct communication with other workers in the shop. His welcoming nature makes people to love his company. There is always oneness in terms of ideas in the shop which makes the place to be suitable for shaving and an avenue for socializing. The place is ever neat something that is directly reflected on the equipment they use to do their work and cleanliness should always be observed. The prices of his salon are very standard to their customers and the charges are based on either the nature of the haircut or the barber doing the work. Papi is also there to replace all the equipment that he believes have lost value. Customers are also allowed to take a break from the activities that are available in the salon.

Charged for a Botched Hair Cut I came to this barber shop yesterday for the first time to get a haircut for my 7 year old son because we have an event this weekend. The barber: Bob I gave him a clear picture and immediately after showing Bob the picture he said he "got it" and asked no questions and he went to work. The first red flag was the way he was combing a 7 year old's hair. If there are tangles you should apply counter pressure so it is less painful, he was not and instead was scolding my son. My head was down attending to my other child when the first cut with the razor was made. The cut hairline was made at the top/mid-ear level. That was not what was in the picture is not, as the owner described, a "faux-hawk." When the owner overheard me say that was not what I asked for, then Bob said he did what I asked for, the owner came over and looked at the picture, looked at my son's hair and agreed. Regardless of hair texture, I was left with the wrong hair line and no help from Bob to try to savage the haircut. I ended up choosing a mannequin's haircut in the shop because I felt like I had to lower my standards to Bob's abilities. The owner described the hair cut my son ended up with as a "high top." I asked if Bob could put the curls back into my son's hair and he had no clue how to do it and again the owner had to intervene. Bob charged me the full price and said nothing acknowledging the mistake he had made and the fact that he did not deliver the hair cut in the photo. More than anything else when my super easygoing son said he did not want to go back there (to that barber shop) it was clear that Bob did not do his job. It was a horrible experience, a nightmare. I had a professional webinar and I missed the first 40 minutes trying to get in touch with the barber shop. I have had my son's hair cut using this same photo at another barber shop and the hairstyle was delivered, no issues. I have never had an issue with my son's hair cuts before this. I did not know the owner's name but I called to and a nice gentleman (another barber) took my information and relayed the information to the owner. The owner called me after 9pm and here I am writing this review at 3:30am because I could not sleep as a result of this experience. So here I am writing a review. The conversation owner: I said to the owner how I could be charged for not getting the haircut we went in for. The owner conceded that the hairline Bob made with the first cut made the hair style in the picture not possible. Then came the apology that lacked sincerity. I realized after the call what had happened...I was blamed for not communicating the haircut I wanted when we were seeing a new barber. That I should have said "faux-hawk" and I should have said terms I have never heard of before such as: "burst fade" or "temporal fade." Historically going to a salon and showing the hairstylist a picture is what is done. Why should I be expected to use terms I have never heard before when a picture is clearer, another barber shop was able to reproduce the same hair cut with the same photo, when I am the customer and Bob was so quick to say "I got it" when he didn't! I am a black woman but if I were a white woman I think I would have been spared the "mansplaining" to add insult to injury. In school I always learned NOT TO USE JARGON, it is only clear to you and others in the same profession, I will stick to that. This barber shop is far from my house and I rushed to get there after work from far away on the south shore in traffic. I wouldn't have written this review if this had been managed differently. If I make a mistake I apologize period, not shift blame. Keep my money,  keep my review (although it is likely to be buried under a surge of new positive reviews), you wasted my time, made my son unhappy and interfered with my work and sleep. Try to reimburse that. This experience cost me a lot more than $30.
