About Us Georges Vanier, a Fine Arts School, is located at the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools Division. This school is an inclusive educational environment for children of all faiths. The program includes the core curriculum and the four major fine arts strands: music, art, theatre, and dance. Fine arts are integrated into the core curriculum and have a separate time on the weekly schedule. Specialized professional educators teach the fine arts. The staff is talented with Fine Arts skills and enriches our learning environment, which sets us apart. Recently, a dance studio was renovated and a large gymnasium with a stage and a visual arts studio was added. Music Program The music program is based on an Orff/Kodaly method of music education. This includes movement, rhythm instruments, and singing, as well as rhythm writing and reading skills. Older students will learn to play instruments (recorders and ukuleles, as well as guitars, drums, and the ukulele) and study theory. Music program will incorporate singing and performance skills. Students can join either the Senior or Junior Choir. In grades 6-8, students can also participate in a comprehensive band program. Students can choose from woodwinds, brass instruments, or percussion. Students will learn to play an instrument and perform together, theory, and more. There are many performance opportunities throughout the school year for the band program students.
