I am absolutely outraged by my experience with Risa Management. After living in one of their properties for 3 years, I gave them notice to vacate on June 2nd, only to be informed that since I was 1 day late, they would not return my deposit of $950. Despite leaving the apartment in pristine condition, they showed no regard for my efforts. Risa management firmly believes that their office personnel are the elite , while regarding tenants as nothing more than fools, helpless individuals, and beggars. When my friend and I (who has been a loyal tenant of Risa Management for 6 years) went to the office to discuss this issue, we were met with nothing but disdain. The receptionist coldly informed us that there was nothing she could do as it was company policy. I had 3 different people eager to take over my lease, but the office flatly refused to approve it. The discussion devolved into a heated argument until the receptionist callously told us to get out (3 times) and treated us like we were beneath her and homeless people. Is this how you treat your loyal customers? All 3 people interested in taking over my apartment lease were more than willing to pay the new and increased rent amount that the office might charge, but still, they stubbornly insisted that a lease transfer was not possible due to their new policy. The new office staff is nothing short of abhorrent. There have been numerous instances where the office has shown blatant discrimination towards tenants. For example, the office accountant/manager was allowed to transfer from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom apartment without so much as a second thought in just 2 months of stay. Additionally, despite Risa’s policy explicitly stating that pets are not allowed in any apartment building, the same office accountant/manager is allowed to keep a large pet dog. If you are the owner and are reading this, I implore you to put an end to this discrimination and either replace your staff or provide them with proper training so that they treat customers with the respect they deserve. It is due to customers like me who pay their rent on time that your staff receives their paycheck. The argument with the office was based on the technicality that it is mentioned in the agreement that I must inform them on or before the 1st of the month. I was just 1 day late and they greedily took my entire deposit of $950. If everything in the rent agreement is true, then please give your office manager notice to vacate their apartment as she has a pet. I feel utterly helpless and am determined to file a complaint about their hypocrisy and discrimination with the tenant board, MLA, Better Business Bureau, and media. Once I have the time and energy, I will not rest until justice is served. It took me a month to muster up the courage to write this review.
