About this business

Saskatoon Convalescent Home was originally located at a prime location on 31st Street and Idylwyld Drive. The property was owned by the Commonwealth and Continental Church Society and used as a residence for single women attending a normal school. The sisters of the church also used the location for their home. In 1942, the Commonwealth and Continental Church Society rented the building to set up a Nursing Care Program. The Saskatoon Convalescent Home Society was registered as a charitable non-profit corporation in May 1959. The society was entitled to receive Government grants and was allowed to accept charitable donations. The Society purchased the Home in 1963. Interested individuals were encouraged to buy a membership. Every year, members would elect the Board of Directors, who would manage the Home's affairs. It took years of fundraising to realize the goal of the new Convalescent Home. The original building and lots close to it were sold, and construction on the new building started. In the fall of 1983, fifty residents moved to the new building. The Health District Number 36 provides twenty-four-hour nursing care, with assistance available from Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Continuing Care Aides.
