The Beginnings of Two Men and a Truck
In Lansing, Michigan, in 1980, brothers Jon and Brig Sorber started moving people using an old pickup truck. Mary Ellen Sheets was their mother. She helped them make a logo to advertise in a weekly community newspaper. The stick-men logo can still be found on every truck sign, advertisement, and sign.
Just a mother helping her sons
When her sons left for college, Sheets began taking calls for moving services. Sheets worked full-time as a data processor for the State of Michigan. In 1985, she bought a 14-foot truck for $350 and hired two movers. Sheets' capital was $350.
