Customer Testimonials Beautiful location. Place of historical importance and reasonable price! Lovely view from the top. Castle is a ruin and the spiral stairs can be hard to climb. Rochester Castle is a beautiful piece of medieval history with awe-inspiring architecture and stunning views from the keep. The castle grounds are well looked after, so it's a great spot for a relaxing walk and a few good photo ops. Its rich history, combined with a scenic riverside location, makes it an essential for history buffs and families. Beautiful This ruin exceeded all of my expectations. It is much larger than it looks, and you get to slowly climb through the walls up the towers to the top. I highly recommend the audio guide to go along with your trip, but there are info plaques along the way to read if you like, although with less content. It took us about 90 minutes to go through, and it wasn't crowded on a Sunday in early May. It pairs well with the (separate) cathedral next door. The cost is more than justified, definitely do this if you are planning a trip to Rochester! Sweeps festival.. was a lovely day out Nagyon izgalmas normann vár. Great views from the roof of the castle It's a great place to visit and we have lots of things going on like larst weekend we had the Sweep it was showing folk music, Morris dancing through the high street and loads of food stalls. Same time we have Charlie Dickens weekend with people dressing up in costume. Classic castle. Lots of steps and very high at the top. But great views. Great If you a lover of history and want to be amazed by the structures built by man that have withstood the text of time this is a very good experience. Visited during the sweeps festival, great atmosphere, audio guide is a must when visiting Good fun place to visit It was our first time visiting Rochester Castle. At first we were a bit skeptical because the castle looked quite small from the outside. However, once we got inside we were amazed by how tall and complicated it actually is. It feels like layer upon layer as you make your way through. The structure is quite narrow and steep in places, so that's something to keep in mind.
