About Us RD Design Team, Inc. Welcome to RD Design Team, Inc. Rafael Castro and Dora Castillo founded RD Design Team Inc., a vertically integrated firm in Phoenix offering Architectural Home Design Services. Our husband and wife team as we use many skills to build climate-sensitive and responsible modern infill projects and remodels in Phoenix, and we take pride in these projects. Our designs are innovative, and our construction uses sustainable building strategies. We also have a social mission to make each neighborhood better than it was found. Modernism is a style that has always excited us, and we chose to use this style in our projects. Modernism in contemporary form is heavily influenced by our country's Mexican and Spanish elements. It is also very much tied to desert Southwest conditions and the climate. Bio In 1991, we graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California. From 1988-91, we worked in architecture and founded our Design Build business in 1990. Our love of architecture led to a long trip to Europe, where we attended the Universal Exposition of Seville. This was the place that made us fall in love with a new architectural style, modernism mixed with Spanish and Mexican elements. In 1992, our love for architecture inspired us to take a chance and become developers. We built our buildings and got funding from private investors. Six years later, Mexico was hit by a severe economic recession that destroyed its construction sector. Frank Lloyd Wright's presence in Arizona and Arizona's climate and geography led us to choose this country to move to. After moving to Phoenix, Dora received her architect's license. She didn't stop there. We also built our design/build and development firm, RD Design Team, to own the whole process so that projects are executed on time and budget. Areas of Expertise
