ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

In operation since 1951, Downtown Tucson is where we cater to hard-core outdoors lifestyle gear needs. Our diverse inventory stocks all the dominant brands. Clothing, Lodge-Iron skillets, hats, military surplus, shoes, camping gear, chairs, tents, and coolers. Don Sloane, a WWII veteran, started Miller's Surplus in 1951. He fought in Europe for 3 years, joined the army near the end of the war, and survived two gun shots. Don was discharged from the Army in 1948 when he turned 21. He then went to NYU and moved to Tucson from the East Coast. Don Miller enjoyed his customers' love for military equipment when he put up Miller's Army Surplus Exchange on Congress Street in Tucson. The army had surplus items, and Don was happy to fulfil their requirements. Urban renewal would force the store to move from downtown to 6th Ave. in 1966 and stand where Miller's Surplus now stands. Don and his workers have been vital for many years because they give every customer in the shop personal attention to make sure that they are thrilled. Miller's Surplus is history and unique shopping experience. Don's personal military collection, dating from WWII, is displayed. Military surplus has been the mainstay of the business since 1951, although the store now vends outdoor gear, clothing and workwear, hiking and work clothes.

SUMMARY   Reviews Summary

Miller's Surplus has positive reviews. It is known for its variety of items and helpful, courteous staff. The military surplus store is the best spot for camping, security, uniforms, shoes, casual wear, and personalized dog tags, and shoppers are satisfied with the product choices. There are also reviews about the proprietor, who is a WWII veteran and 94 years old, showing his much experience and passion for history. It's a joy to see Don point out WWII gear and discuss the war. Miller's is navigable due to its extensive aisles, and a staff member is always willing to help. Patrons find the employees friendly and approachable, which adds to the store's success. A customer claimed that they were able to purchase what they needed without the hassle they experienced in other stores. Most like the product selection, and they will return thanks to the friendly workers who request parking for optimal shopping time. This store review underlines why the structure is preferred over others in the area.
