Sol Silverberg operated as a solitary businessperson until his two sons Herb and Bernie signed up with him. One of the two sons, Bernie, joined the company in 1950, with Herb following shortly afterward. The introduction of Herb and Bernie had a significant impact on the company, as the store was relocated to a larger downtown Tucson location. Under the new address, the store expanded and looked for other locations. The S. Silverberg & Sons Downtown Tucson store was able to survive for fifty years, growing and moving as many as four locations.
