ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

Sonoran Glass School opened its doors in 2001. A dedicated community of glass artists throughout Arizona helped philosophy become reality. Tom Philabaum and Dave Klein, among others, co-founded Sonoran Art Foundation, Inc. The pair remodeled the abandoned, rusty tire shop in Tucson's historic neighborhood south of downtown. Our four in-house glass studios, with their specific media and techniques, are a testament to the tireless efforts and generosity of our volunteers. We offer instructions on furnace glassblowing, soft or borosilicate torchworking, glass-kiln fusing, and cold working. Sonoran Glass School is the only non-profit, full-service glass arts organization in the Southwest desert. Our classes, workshops with visiting artists, and community activities provide unparalleled educational opportunities for beginners or advanced students. Our talented studio instructors lead individual lessons for those who want to learn glass art.
