The Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) is a non-profit arts organization that is 501(c)(3). It seeks to give K-12 students affordable and equitable access to multidisciplinary art education programs in East Los Angeles. Our programs are of the essence in the community's culture identity. The school was formed in 1945 by Pearle Irene Olell. It has offered over 2,000,000 lessons and engaged over 200 teaching artists in its programs. Art education allows students to learn an area they are not offered in their curriculum. But on a profound mental level, it allows for creativity, a diversion from high-risk behaviors, safe places to build skills and confidence, providing students with the tools and resources - to achieve their bright future, especially in a region where individual prerogatives are overlooked. Our perception is that affordable, accessible arts education programs can improve students and communities by broadening one's world view, sharpening creative skills, and enriching academic, social, and behavioral development. Many students are deprived of arts education because of budget cuts in schools. Though engagement in the arts does not guarantee future successfulness, scholars active in art have excelled in their personal and academic realm. Our resources, programs, and opportunities empower you to live a fulfilling and rewarding life in the arts.
