At Twinkle Toes Dance Co, we strive to create a welcoming, non-competitive atmosphere for our young students and their parents. The primary goal of our program is to instill a love of dancing in all our students. Twinkle Toes offers an educational and fun approach to dance education for children. My name is Karen Gladis, and I have been a dancer for more than 20 years. I am also a mother, raising a creative teenage daughter. I thought I would understand the latest trends as a parent, but my perspective has changed. This list is for other parents and future students. Children have taught me that they are a creative force. All my best ideas have come from being around children, watching them dance and play games. They have also taught me that I must respect them, and their energy, then they will respect me. When selecting a dance class, ensure that staff and teachers treat your preschooler or toddler with kindness and respect. Choose an instructor that inspires joy and creativity through movement and empowers children to express themselves. Many studios lack a "baby class" for children because they don't think it means much. We think that baby classes are crucial for a child's future dance career, or if they just want a good dance class. Look for a dance class that strikes the right balance between being interesting and learning. Attend a class and check if the instructors use creative imagery, props, and vivid music to encourage kids to learn. Dance class for kids should be so fun that they would want to go back every week.
