Allyson Deane began her education in dance at her parents Deane Crockett and Barbara Crockett’s dance studio at age five. The Sacramento Civic Ballet Company, which her mother started, also served as a learning experience. She advanced from corps to soloist and principal in the San Francisco Ballet Company. She was pleased to have been in this part in Scotland, in her father Dean Crockett's hometown, Ogden Utah, and the S.F. Opera House where she lived for years. She also competed in Paris at "Dance a Paris", in Tomm Ruud’s “Mobile.” She was asked to do a movie, "Balances,” which was shown around the United States. The Balcony Pas de Deux of Smuin’s “Romeo and Juliet” was accomplished at the Gala Performance of the Re-Opening of Sacramento Capitol Rotunda. Also, she spent a few years being the Sugar Plum Fairy in Sacramento Ballet’s Nutcracker, choreographed by Barbara Crockett. Having moved to Seattle after marriage, where she was hired in the Pacific Northwest Ballet School, she met and married Don Schwennesen. When she came back to California, she joined the Oakland Ballet Company. She performed in Kurt Joos’ “Green Table” and Eugene Loring’s “Billy the Kid.” She also danced Tomm Ruud’s pas de deux “Bela di Notte” and appeared as the lead in Nijinska’s “Scheherazade,” and was Mother/Sweetheart. Allyson Deane was appointed the Oakland Ballet executive directors’ assistant and two years touring with Oakland Ballet as head of wardrobe. Barbara Crockett, David Boyet, and Ms. Deane opened Deane Dance Centre with her husband after years of teaching and guest dancing around the United States. It has been a great success, as confirmed by the fact that it was named the Youth America Grand Prix Best School 2000 by Chloe Felesina, who won the Junior Grand Prix. The Deane Dance Center has trained numerous successful professional dancers for many years. With the aid of Don Schwennesen (formerly Sac Civic Ballet), Crockett-Deane Ballet has developed to be a well-respected training ground for dancers and is now a Regional Dance America/Pacific Honor Company.
